Lake Mills Light & Water feels that it is our responsibility to give something back to the community and contribute to educational efforts. Because of this, each year we sponsor two $500.00 scholarships for seniors attending Lake Mills High School.
The purpose of our scholarship program is:
- To give something back to our community
- To increase awareness of public power
- To encourage technical training for graduating high school seniors.
- To educate youth about careers in their communities.
- To provide WPPI member municipal utilities with a pool of trained linemen.
- To inform customers about the benefits of owning a municipal utility.

Continuing Education Scholarship
- To be eligible, the student must be a graduating senior completing high school in the current year at Lake Mills High School.
- Students’ parents must be current customers of Lake Mills Light and Water.
- Students must be registered as a full time student at a post-secondary educational institution.
- Complete the application available at your high school guidance office.
- Return it, along with a transcript of your grades, to the Guidance Department by April 15, 2018.
- Awards will be announced in May.
The $500 scholarship will be awarded with proof of enrollment. A copy of the fee statement or other proof of enrollment must be submitted to:

Lineworker Training Scholarship
- High school seniors interested in pursuing a career as an electric line technician may apply for the $500 scholarship.
- Student’s parents must be a current customer of Lake Mills Light & Water.
- The student should be planning to attend an Electrical Power Distribution program at one of four Wisconsin Technical Colleges that offer courses:
Chippewa Valley Technical College
Moraine Park Technical College
Northeast Wisconsin Technical College
A letter of recommendation is requested from a teacher, counselor or employer that addresses the applicant’s skills that are pertinent to the job (ex. manual dexterity; in good physical condition; willing to work at all heights and in all weather; able to comprehend and follow written instructions; safety conscious).
Deadline for submitting application and letter of recommendation to your high school guidance office is April 15, 2018.
The scholarship recipient will be announced in May.
